The Surly Straggler is, simply put, the advanced disc version of the well-known Cross Check frame. The Straggler is an incredibly versatile road, all-road, gravel or cyclocross frameset. In principle, the Straggler can be anything you want it to be, a rough road racing bike, a cyclocross bike, a long-distance touring and bikepacking bike or a fully equipped commuter. If you only have room for one bike in your life, then the Straggler is probably the perfect solution.
The horizontal dropouts also allow it to be used as a single speed. The rear installation width of this frame is 135 mm because there is a much larger selection of disc hubs. The Straggler offers tire clearance of up to 45c (42c with mudguards). The Straggler frameset has all the brazing parts that the Cross Check has, meaning that countless carriers, bottle cages and mudguards can be mounted.
The geometry of the Straggler is very similar to that of the Cross Check. The Straggler is also a tough all-rounder that can take you almost anywhere. The Straggler is sporty, but not a racing bike, but rather an all-weather bike for rough surfaces, weekend and day trips with light luggage or a versatile commuter.

[1] Different tire and rim combinations result in different clearances.
[2] Depending on the drivetrain configuration, tire clearance may be limited by the chain and not the frame.
[3] The chainring clearance stated is the worst-case scenario. Clearances vary widely depending on components and configurations.
[4] Length of the suspension fork specified at full extension (not at sag)
