The Jones C-Rim combines the light weight and strength of carbon fiber with a 56mm outer width and 49mm inner width, a hookless design, pronounced bead lock and 3.5mm rounded sidewalls for almost absurd strength and a tread that protects the tire during hard impacts. The wide 49mm inner width spreads the beads of the tire, making the tire less likely to fold over at low pressure and during hard cornering and better bottoming out during hard impacts. The rim has a very pronounced bead lock for reliability when running tubeless. At 595g (average) for the 32 hole version and 642g (average) for the 36 hole version, the C-Rim is around 100g lighter than the closest comparable but narrower aluminum rim and is possibly the strongest rim ever made.
The spoke holes are drilled at an angle that matches the angle of the spoke nipples. This allows the nipple to be pulled straight in line with the spoke, reducing stress. The 6mm offset of the off-center drilled rim allows for more balanced spoke tension when used with asymmetric rims, such as those found on most rear and some front hubs.
